Through our efforts, Heroes Like Us provides funding and resources to local partners in our community. The programs that we sponsor help build, maintain, and implement sustainable solutions for increasing food literacy in youth and resolving hunger-focused issues.
Slow Food Denver utilizes their Seed-To-Table program to help build a positive relationship between students and food through the creation of in-school gardens. Here, students are able to immerse themselves in the process of growing fresh produce and build a deeper appreciation for a healthy lifestyle. “As a like-minded organization with strong ties to the culinary community, we are thrilled that Heroes Like Us will mobilize a passionate group of chefs, restaurateurs and local producers in support of community wellness and good food. Their hard work will directly strengthen Slow Food Denver’s work by benefitting school garden infrastructure and educational programming in our local community.”
Share Our Strength created the Cooking Matters Program as part of the No Kid Hungry campaign to provide families with the knowledge they need to shop for and cook healthy meals on a budget. The Cooking Matters program brings together chefs, nutritionists, educators and dietitians to give families all the necessary tools needed to make their home a healthy home.
